People with Diabetes

  • May experience kidney failure, adult blindness, non-traumatic amputations and nerve damage. Diabetes is the leading cause of these medical conditions.*
  • Are 2 to 4 times more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those without the disease.*
  • Historically live a shorter life than those without the disease. Life expectancy for diabetics is on average 7 to 10 years shorter, and the risk of death for people with diabetes is about double that of people of similar age without diabetes.
