Announced in October 2010, the Decade of Discovery is a major medical initiative with the goal to prevent, optimally treat and ultimately cure Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Building on the research strengths of the Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics, the initiative will end diabetes through research, broad penetration of best practices in treatment, intervention and prevention. In doing so, the research goal will position Minnesota as a global leader in pioneering medical discovery and treatment. It will significantly reduce health care costs and generate economic opportunities that will benefit our entire state for generations to come.
